Early Spring

A sea of white-
soft to the touch
of caressing eyes.
Petals light-
weightlessly resting
on delicate extremities.
Fringed with bright-
green seeping,
bleeding out the fingertips.
Wind, come bite-
rouse the air
and shiver the limbs.

Breathe an early frost,
uncurl and impede the branches lissome.

Congeal it at all costs
—the innocence of cherry blossoms.
