A Complex Awakening

She lives a life unparallel
To what had been her dream
Bathed in golden aspirations
But in society unseen

Duty to her family
A perfect Southern Belle
But at what cost the belle doth ring
And duty takes its toll

A Leda of the present day
But before the beak could drop
Thrusting past, she fought her way
And found the means to cope

Freedom sings a stroke away
Poseidon’s wrath subsides
And thus she sinks beneath the waves
As tide begins to rise

Ignoring children’s longing cries
And reaching hands of brethren
The River Styx does pull her down
Or is it God of Heaven?

Good Morning Kisses

Good morning kisses
So subtle and sweet
They get lost in the madness of day
And stuck in between the passion of night
As lovers on rose petals lay

Good morning kisses
Arise with the dawn
And briefly unfurl in the sun
Settling softly on eglantine cheeks
And nothing can make them undone

Good morning kisses
Cannot be erased
They elude time’s withering gaze
They turn young into new
As a sweet briar’s dew
Glitters with sunlight ablaze

Good morning kisses
Stir soft as a breeze
Blowing through brush-wine untamed
Heaven on earth
Angel’s breath on your skin
Once touched you are ne’re more the same

Enlightenment

The door had been closed
Darkness shrouded like a cloak
Until you flickered
Shedding light into corners
I blinked in surprise
But then I grew accustomed
And began to see.

Empty Shell

How often do you write,
Like me,
Past midnight,
When no one else will watch
And judge you,
But faceless names
Of what we wish to be?

.Mirage.

Everything I see
Everything around
Shimmers and wavers
Twinkling in the intensity
Of the sunlight
A mirage of fantasy
Appearing and reappearing
With every step
Reflecting off the raindrops
Dancing on the window panes
You fall down
All around me
Soaking me

Yourhands.

Your hands.
diligently working,
putting together
your next “masterpiece.”

Your hands.
strong,
yet slightly scarred,
telling stories
without words.

You hands.
intertwining with mine,
comforting and warm,
letting me know
you’re there.

Your hands.
pushing back my hair,
gently touching my face,
conveying emotions
that are hard to express.

Your hands.
familiar,
but still exciting,
bringing me back
from wherever I am.

Your hands.
cradling softly,
holding my heart…
for as long as you’d like…
holding my heart
in Your hands.

Looking at the Stars for Guidance

Looking at the stars for guidance
Midnight blue with flecks of gold
Steering aimlessly in darkness
The salty breeze cuts deep and cold
Lost without you
I keep turning
Around and back to where I began
Washing up upon the shoreline
Worn and battered on the sand

Long ago, a distant memory
A home, a place where I belonged
Thrashed about, waves know no mercy
Your sweet refrain a distant song
The still-lifes are what keep me going
A glimpse of you upon the foam
Twirling faster, always dancing
Pulling me,
Guiding me home

Cocoon

Time swirls like clouds
In a blue spring sky
Making shapes, rearranging,
Then passing by
Mornings unfold
As dew awakens
Life is short
It’s all for taking
Summer’s warmth
Seeps inside
Wooing softly
A blushing bride
As leaves blow down
Spring’s slow labor
Is stolen quickly
By it’s neighbor
Then covered swiftly
By winter’s gleam
Softly falling
Appearing clean
And underneath
It’s all beginning
To re-build
There is no ending
For soon the sunshine
Will break free
And decorate
With silent glee
And the world
Before our very eyes
Will soon be filled
With butterflies
Who soar above
From dream to dream
Floating o’er and in-between
Carrying quietly
Within
A cocoon which harvests
What has been.

*As the Morning Glory*

the First time i loved
was like a morning Glory
gone in the sunlight

The memories still
flash Vividly through my mind
they are Rooted deep

i’ll Never forget,
but, as the Morning glory
Wakes with the sunset,

One clear night, I too
will Unfold in love’s Brilliance…
and then I will sing.
